A bed cover is made for one bed length and one rail shape. Getting those two right is most of the job, and you can check both in a few minutes in the driveway.
- Know your truck. Write down the year, make, model and cab style. The same model can come with two or three bed lengths.
- Measure the bed. With the tailgate closed, measure along the floor from the inside of the front wall to the inside of the tailgate. Ask someone to hold the end of the tape so it stays straight. Compare that number to the bed length in the listing, not to what the dealer called it.
- Look at the rails. Some trucks have a factory rail system or a cargo track along the top of the bed. Note it, because some covers need different clamps.
- Check your liner. A bed liner that wraps over the rails can change how a cover sits. Liners that stay under the rails usually do not get in the way.
- Pick the style for how you use the truck. A roll-up cover is light and opens the whole bed. A tri-fold folds up toward the cab and comes off easily. A hard folding cover adds security when the tailgate is locked. A retractable cover slides into a canister at the front.
- Think about what stays in the bed. A toolbox at the front, a bed extender or a ladder rack can all change which covers fit.
Send us your year, make, model and bed length, and we will check the fit with you before you order.
